PIKETON REDSTREAKS
Coach Jeff Lisath: A Legacy of Excellence at Piketon High School (By Scott Legg)

Coach Jeff Lisath stands as the most decorated coach in Piketon High School basketball history. His nine-year tenure marked a golden era for the Redstreaks—filled with wins, championships, and unforgettable moments. No coach amassed more accolades or left a deeper imprint on the program.
Under Coach Lisath, Piketon reached unprecedented heights. He led the Redstreaks to 3 top-10 finishes in the final AP polls, peaking at No. 2 in the 2010-11 season. But it was the magical 2008-09 campaign—culminating in a historic trip to the State Final Four—that cemented his legacy. What once seemed impossible for Piketon became reality through his constant message of belief in the Lord, in each other, and themselves.
His impact extended well beyond a single season. Over nine years:
He guided Piketon to all 9 Pike County Holiday Classic championship games, winning 3 titles and going 4-3 against rival Waverly.
His teams built a small-school dynasty, capturing 4 SVC championships (including 3 straight), finishing runner-up twice, and third once.
He won 7 Sectional Titles, including 6 consecutive appearances at the District Tournament in Athens.
Coach “L” was known as a players’ coach—calm, confident, and composed. He earned respect not just for his winning record (209 games coached) but for his sportsmanship, having received only one technical foul in nearly a decade on the sideline.
More than just a coach, Jeff Lisath was a leader who built a culture of belief, discipline, and class. His era will forever be remembered as the brightest chapter in Piketon basketball.
